On March 25th, at the 2014 Cisco Partner Summit:
Cisco announced that NetXperts Inc, headquartered in San Ramon, has been awarded the “Internet of Everything” Partner of the Year for the US/Canada West Region.
Awarded to exemplary channel partners, the Cisco Partner Summit awards are designed to recognize best-in-class business practices and serve as a model to the industry. Areas of consideration include innovative practices, application successes, unique programs, problem solving, and sales approaches.
This also falls in line with Cisco’s emphasis on the “Internet of Everything” focused on solving real world issues and changing business outcomes. As seen in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kt5VulFqBm4
Write up from Cisco team:
NetXperts is receiving the Internet of Everything award for the incredible work they have done creating a PDAS (Personal Duress Alarm System) solution and implementing it at the 5 Mental Hospitals in California. A project that will be completed by the end of 2014.
NetXperts is the first partner to ever receive this award.
In 2010, the CIO of Department of State Hospitals stood in the middle of the 487 acre Napa State Hospital campus at the place where a nurse had lost her life at the hands of a mentally ill patient. He described it as an indoctrinating moment when he clearly understood the threat of violent attacks on campus and how technology would play a role. This triggered a project that would take more than 3 years to complete but would make these hospitals a safe place for their employees.
NetXperts stepped up to the challenge to implement a solution that includes Ekahau RFID technology, it includes custom software and, most importantly, Cisco technology including core infrastructure, wireless, security and datacenter solutions. All employees now wear an RFID tag that that when pulled sends a notification to security which includes their photo, provides their exact location, employees in close proximity are also notified, flashing lights help guide them to the location of the attack and help is onsite within 30 seconds regardless of where on the campus it takes place. In 2013, this PDAS solution was featured on the local news when it was credited for saving the life of a nurse who was being attacked and the solution worked flawlessly.
NetXperts has revolutionized employee safety in the workplace, we anticipate this solution spreading throughout the prison and mental health systems and other facilities where there is a threat of violence, i.e. Airports, Mass Transit, College’s, K-12 Schools, Stadiums.
